We are moving back to Kansas City. The job prospects in rural Wisconsin are nil, so we must move. I have a couple of leads in Kansas City and hope to start as soon as we get there. It looks as if we will be there by the 26th.

We are sad to be leaving the people in Wisconsin, but at the same time we are excited about the move. Our short time here has been a blessing to us. We have met some wonderful people here and we are blessed to know them. Know that everyone is in our prayers.

So, until we get settled...

Blessings,

Chuck

Update February 2009

Scott Family Update February 2009

Friends and Family,

We have so much to share this month that it’s hard to know where to start. Last month we told you about the coming church plant. As it looks now, we will be holding two services this month, one on the 13th and the other on the 20th. What started out as 15 interested families has turned into nearly 30 families showing interest in the Vintage Faith Centers, America. This is both exciting and a bit overwhelming when we consider that we have two other churches that we serve as well. We will surely be busy for a season.

Prayer Request

Last month we shared that the house we are living in sold. This is a blessing for our landlord and a bit of relief for sure, as he had it on the market for over a year. We need to be out of the house on the 15th of February. Please pray that we find just the right house for our family.

Along with that we ask that everyone pray for our finances, and if God may be leading you to support this ministry. Because the churches are small, and one is just starting, we do not take a salary; instead we raise our own support. In the past we have done this through part time employment coupled with monthly donations, and onetime financial gifts. However, due to the rural location, and the current economy we have not been able to find part time work.

As we come to the 15th we are way below our financial needs to move. We are asking that you would pray about supporting this ministry. This can be done in a variety of ways.

Monthly support of $10, $20, $50, $100 is one way as well as a one time gift. We also ask that you would pray about financially supporting our adoption efforts. Feel free to contact us if you would like more information.

All donations are tax deductible. Instructions on how to receive year end tax deductions are at the end of this letter.

Please prayerfully consider support this church planting, rural ministry. We want to thank you in advance for your support.

We Are Filling in Our 2009 Calendar

With our duties at the churches expanding we are able to go out only a couple of times a month, about 6 days each month. We really want to share our vision for church planting, and what God has been sharing with us. If you or your church would like to host us you can contact us at: chuckscot@gmail.com. We would love to come and serve you.

Check Our Blogs

Be sure to check out our family blog as well as Chuck’s blog for updates, teaching and news. Our family blog is: www.familyofscott.blogspot.com. Chuck’s blog is: www.chuckscott.blogspot.com. Also, if you are on facebook or myspace, let us know. Both of those are a little informal, and a great way to keep in touch.

Giving Information

Thank you for your support. We thank God for your obedience to pray for us and support us financially.
You can support us by one of two ways. The first way is to go to either Chuck’s blog or the Scott Family blog and click the “Make a Donation” button which will direct you our Paypal account. Unfortunately we cannot offer year end tax deduction with this method.

If you would like a year end tax deduction you can make checks payable to: Willow Springs Bible Church with a note enclosed in the envelope designating it to “the Scott Family”.

The mailing address is:

The Scott Family
C/O Willow Springs Bible Church
17518 State Road 23
Darlington, Wisconsin 53530

Again, thank you for your prayers and support. We so appreciate them. Remember to pray for our adoption home study. As soon as we move we will be setting the home study process into motion

Until next month, we pray that God richly bless you in all areas of your life.

Blessings,

Chuck, Chastity, Elijah, Myah, Noah and Josiah Scott.

God is Good.....

Real quick update on happenings here. We have a huge prayer request.

In our last letter I told everyone that we have to move. We are still looking for a place big enough for all of us and still be affordable. We have to be out by the 15th of February, which puts us really close to moving. We are starting to pack, not knowing where we will go, but we know that God is faithful and will provide the right place for our family.

Please pray for us. Pray that we will have enough money to get into a place and to take care of all the other expenses. Pray that the weather will be good enough to move when we need. We have had a lot of snow here which makes for slick walkways and stairs. Most of all pray for peace and safety as we transition into a new home.

God is good.....

Update January 2009

Scott Family Update
January 2009

We want to start out by wishing everyone a Happy New Year. It is our prayer that God wildly bless every one of you this year.

As there is with the beginning of each year, there is an excitement for what God is going to do. We are excited at the challenges and work God has for us this year.

Last year God made some radical changes in our lives when He called us to Wisconsin. We are blessed to be able to pastor at two churches here. We really love serving the people here. They have been such a blessing to us. We are also blessed to serve Pastor James (Senior Pastor) and his vision for the area. We are excited to be a part of this vision that involves church planting, establishing a ministry training center as well as a bible school (Crucible). These first few days of 2009 are an encouragement to what God has in store for this region this year.

The blessing that this ministry has seen in the last four months is extraordinary. Since September we have been blessed with video equipment, paid airtime on the local Christian television station as well as an increased interest in the future ministry training center and bible school. The first church plant will start soon, and others will follow. And it is our goal to have the ministry training center, as well as Crucible up and running as soon as possible.

In other news….

As some may know, at the end of last year we placed our children in public school. We are pleased to say that they are doing well and they are enjoying the experience.

Elijah is playing basketball and thoroughly loving it. Myah was part of the recent Christmas play and thinks she may continue with theatre this year too. Noah has shown an aptitude for music in way of guitar. We were recently blessed with an electric guitar that sparked this interest. Josiah is on the wrestling team and has his first match in a few days. On top of it all we are seeing God working in their lives and are amazed at the people of God they are becoming. Above all else it is our prayer that they run after God with focused abandonment their entire lives.

We Are Moving…..Just Not As Far

We are also preparing to move once again, though not as far, into another place. We have until the middle of February to find another place. We believe that God will provide the finances to move and the right place to live at just the right time.

This year also proves exciting for me (Chuck) personally as well. In my prayer time I have felt the leading of the Lord to write more. This has been a desire of mine since childhood and I have always written in way of journals and, since 2001, blogging. However, this prompting has been more pointed in that I sense God wants me to publish more on my blog and to write a book. (this explains all the title ideas I have been having lately) I believe that God gives us the desires of our heart if we focus on Him.
Delight yourself in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Psalm 37:4 (NKJV)

In the next few months I will be posting more on my blog (www.chuckscott.blogspot.com) as well as my Facebook and Myspace sites. I will also be spending more time on a couple of ideas for books. All of this will be what God is sharing with me and what I write will reflect that. So check the blog often. If you aren’t already a friend on myspace or facebook just send a request and I will set you up.

Another prompting has been to travel more this year to speak at other churches. I feel that God is wanting us to go out and share His heart for the rural areas in America. With our pastoral duties we will only be available a couple times a month. So far the schedule is wide open, so if your church or organization would be interested in hosting us, let us know. All the contact info is at the end of this letter.

Thank You!
We want to thank everyone who has supported us in prayer and finances. We so appreciate it all, and could not continue this work without your faithful support.

We are asking that if you have not considered it before that you would seek God in supporting us financially this year.

This ministry, the school and training center are all non-profit in that we will not charge for anything. Everyone involved, students and staff raise their own support. We spent it home with the family. We were blessed the night before when a few people from the church came by to drop off presents. We were blessed with cheese and meat, a Wisconsin staple. We have pounds of deer burger and a few roasts to boot.

On Christmas day I took the boys sleding. On my one and only run I ran into Josiahs toboggon with the bridge of my nose. It is slightly broken, and I set it myself, much to the objections of Chastity.

Blessings

Update December 08

Scott Family Update
December 2008

It’s hard to believe that the year is almost over. So much has happened this year, with most of it packed into the last four months.

We are preparing for our first Christmas in Wisconsin, and are looking at the real reason for the Christmas celebration. This time of year seems to bring out the whole spectrum of emotions in people. On one end we see the world’s view of despair and greed, and on an eternal view we feel the great joy in knowing that God really loves us. Even as Christians we can be easily sucked into the world game of shop til you drop and trying to keep up with the fastness of the season. It seems that Christmas season starts earlier each year, and the crowds become more agitated as a result.

This year has probably been the hardest years for our family. In that we have had ample opportunity to feel sorry for ourselves and join the rest of the masses in a collective bah humbug. However, it seems that every time that spirit of whiny-ness comes around, we are reminded of just how much God loves us. For real! Any hardships, any trials, any kind of seemingly insurmountable mountain is nothing compared to the great love our Father has for us, so much so that He made a way for us to spend eternity with Him. All these momentary light afflictions are mere nothingness in the eternal scheme of God. And this season reminds us of that great love.

With that we encourage everyone to take time this season to reflect on Him and his faithfulness. Sure, candy canes and Christmas hams (irony is not lost here) are good things, but let us not sacrifice the excellent of Christ for the good of Christmas.

Thank You!

We want to take this time to thank everyone who has supported us in prayer and finances. Without God and your support we cannot do what we do. Thank you so much! May God richly bless you this coming year, and may you have a blessed Christmas season. Merry Christmas!

In Christ,

Chuck, Chastity, Elijah, Myah, Noah, and Josiah

PS. Keep us in prayer this coming year as we move forward with foster care adoption.

The Scott Family
920 Ohio St
Darlington, Wisconsin 53530 Ph: 608.316.5633

Scott Family Update

Scott Family Update

It is hard to find a place to start. We have been busy every week working at the churches, doing outreach and life in general that we haven't had time to just rest.

Quick church updates:
We changed to a Saturday evening service at the Platteville church (Vintage Faith Center). We are beginning to see more college students coming as a result. There has been a big push sprucing VFC up. It is amazing what paint and pictures can do to transform a room.

Willow Springs Bible Church is moving along steadily. We continue to have MMA (Mixed Martial Arts), bible study, and are in the planning stages for outreach in the Darlington area. We are seeing an increased interest in prayer here. This has been our prayer for both churches and it is great to see God place the spirit of prayer on both churches so soon.

The real exciting news for all of us here is the planting of a new Vintage Faith Centers chapter church in New Glarus Wisconsin. The first service should be in the next couple of weeks. I will post more as time goes on. Please pray for us as we step out in faith, planting churches in small towns.

We are also looking into an old church building in Darlington. The basement has been converted into a 3 bedroom apartment, and the upstairs is on huge room that can be converted into office/ classroom space. The initial plan is to have a place for ministers/church planters to stay while they train for their calling. There are some other ideas bouncing around for the upstairs as well. What is for sure is that we would like to use the building for a ministry center hub to train, equip and send out ministers. If you would like to help support this let me know.

Sometimes it seems as if we are moving slow but when we realize that it has been less than six months since starting on this journey, we have really made great strides.

Family News:

As some of you may know, Chastity and I have had a heart for adoption for some time now. While back in Illinois we had started the process, but had to stop when we were called to Wisconsin. Up until a couple of days ago we were saying that we needed to be settled before continuing. We realized that we are as settled as we are ever going to be, and we are setting out once again to make a difference in a young child's life. As we have prayed about this we have felt God leading us to go through the Foster Care system. We will keep you posted as things progress.

We ask that people keep us in prayer as we step out in faith. In the natural we need so much for this to work. We still need a vehicle big enough for us six, and for our new child (or children). We are also in need of more financial support. I am working a full time job with a temp agency, but am finding hard to maintain a full time job and pastoral duties. The churches are not at a place financially to support us, but the need is there for ministry. We believe God will make a way for me to work a part time job and devote more time to both churches. We know that in the natural this looks impossible, but in the spirit we know that these things are already provided for.

Change in the Political Climate:

The elections have come and gone, and I really believe that God gave the people the king they wanted. We noticed this week that the moral climate has changed rather quickly since the election. It's as if the people of this nation are like little kids taking a peek at their Christmas presents early, even taking them out and playing with them. We as Christians need to be diligent in focused prayer. Friends, we are heading to battle, and we need to pray as we have never prayed before. Furthermore, we need to take action as well. We need to be the voice for the unborn, the poor and disenfranchised. If we do not we will see our place in this nation lost to secular, ungodly ideals. If we sit and do nothing we will be slowly pushed out.

We must:
1. Pray for our leaders
2. Look for ways to impact our local communities. We need to treat our regions like the mission fields they are.
3. Speak against any law that goes against God's.
4. Speak the truth in love.
5. Get involved in local government.

Please pray for us as we continue in this mission. We are thankful to all of you who have supported us in prayer and financially. We pray that God would bless you all.

If there is anything you need prayer for, let us know we would love to stand with you in the place of prayer.

If you would like to support us as rural missionaries you can do so by going to www.chuckscott.blogspot.com and clicking the donation button, or, if you would like a tax deduction you can make checks payable to: Willow Springs Bible Church, with a post it note attached designating it to the Scott Family and send it to the address below. The leaves are starting to change, which makes for a beautiful trip between the churches, and even helps one forget about the high gas prices for a moment. Whenever I see the changing foliage and feel the crisp air of fall I am reminded of how God is in the details of everything created. There is so much going on behind the scenes that we take for granted and it takes things like changes in scenery to point us in the right direction- up.

Ministry Happenings

Things are starting to ramp up in ministry. We are most excited about our first baptism this Saturday afternoon. We will be baptizing three people in the Pecatonica River in Darlington. Out of all the things that I have done in ministry I think that baptism is my favorite. I’ve always thought that baptism is a good indicator of how effective a ministry is. Really, anyone can get people to raise their hand while all heads are bowed, and say a little prayer and call that salvation, but when you take the plunge and come back up a new person that is commitment my friend, especially in 40 degree water.

We are starting to see more interest in the Bible study at Willow Springs (the Darlington church) and we will be starting one soon at Power of the Word (Platteville church). In addition to the coming Bible study we are planning specific outreaches to the students at the University of Wisconsin, Platteville (UW Platteville). Like most university campuses there is no shortage of places to find sin. In every university town that I have been in there is usually a strip of bars and restaurants that cater to binge drinking. UW Platteville is no exception. We want to start out walking the street on Fridays and Saturdays reaching and ministering to the lost. We also have the desire to work with Campus Crusade for Christ, and will do so in the near future. Right now we are praying for the gas money to get back and forth to Platteville. Round trip between Darlington and Platteville is approximately 40 miles. It cost roughly $50.00 a week to travel and do all that we need to do just in Platteville.

Campaign for Real Preaching

Pastor James has launched the Campaign for Real Preaching. He has also introduced Whole Stone theology during our recent camp meeting at Willow Springs Bible Church. Follow this link for more info. www.americanpentecost.wordpress.com/2008/09/30/a-time-such-as-this/ . The response has been great on the local level and there is a felt urgency that the message needs to get out now! It is encouraging to know that people are tired of the business as usual in the church and are hungry for a return to the basics of faith, prayer and evangelism. You can contact Pastor James directly for more information. His contact info can be found at:

http://www.americanpentecost.wordpress.com/

News on the LIFE Front

We also found out that Platteville has a crisis pregnancy hotline, but we are pretty sure it links over to a regional hotline. In short, nothing local to meet immediate needs. Friends, this is unacceptable. When Planned Parenthood has an office and the only other alternative is an impersonal phone call, then Planned Parenthood has no real competition. We need to combat this. We are praying that God would send like-minded people to help plan and start a staffed crisis pregnancy center in Platteville. Please stand with us in prayer as we move forward.

On another note: Earlier this year Chastity and I announced that we were feeling God leading us to adopt. When we found out we were moving to Wisconsin we had shelf our plans until we got settled in. Well, we are as settled as a family of six can be, and we are ready for the first step, the home visit. We are currently raising funds for the home visit and can really use the help. We truly believe that God is in this. As many of you know, we have had adoption in our hearts for a long time, and now is the time for us to act. Feel free to contact us for more information.

Rural Missions

In the last few weeks God has instilled two words into my heart, Rural Missions. God has shown me that there are many un-reached, neglected populations all over the country. The only reason for this is that they don’t have the proximity to big towns or the resources to entice a preacher. This is a tragedy. I feel in my heart that God is raising up people who are not afraid to go to the rural areas and reservations to reach people who are too often forgotten for no other reason than, out of sight out of mind. Friends, just because you don’t see them doesn’t mean that they are not there. God sees them and He is just as sad when they die and go to hell as He is for the sinner in the big cities. We thought we knew what rural was, but we had no idea until we got up here. Folks, this is the boonies, and there are places even boonier (I made a new word woot woot!) than this in America.

In the next few months I will share more of what God is showing me about rural missions, what that looks like and what He is calling us to.

Family Life

The children have started into their routine of home school. Chastity has been taking the bulk (that means all) of the duties teaching the children while I have been dividing time between the church and my new part-time job at Lands’ End. Recently Chastity found another family that home schools and is part of a group that meets in Monroe. They all seem to be taller every morning. Elijah has been towering over mom and dad for some time, but we just realized that Myah is now as tall as Chastity!

We are thankful that I got the job at Lands’ End when I did. We had a few close calls financially last month, and we are not out of the woods yet, but we know that God is faithful and always provides.

When we felt led here we knew fully that there is no money ministering in rural areas. That has never been our reason to be in ministry. Our reason was a call from God to go, and a desire to minister to people who have been ignored by most mainline preachers because the money is not here.

We are far below our monthly budget and we are asking that everyone would pray about supporting us financially.

Our goal is not a seven thousand square foot house and many cars. We need support to be effective in areas that need ministers. We are asking for your support to help spread the Gospel to a lost and dying people. Will you help?

If you wish to support our ministry you may do so by going to http://www.chuckscott.blogspot.com/ or http://www.familyofscott.blogspot.com/ and clicking the “Make a Donation” button. However, if you would like a tax deduction you will have to send a check, made out to Willow Springs Bible Church and attach a post it note with “for the Scott Family” written on it. If you want to help with the adoption you can write “Scott Adoption” on the post it note and we will make sure it goes toward the adoption costs.

We are also in need of good office equipment, a vehicle and other items. If you would like to donate these things you can call Willow Springs Bible Church at: 608.776.3325 and leave a message.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. I pray that God richly bless you.

Wild Blessings,

The Scott Family
Chuck, Chastity Elijah, Myah, Noah, Josiah

PS. It will go down in history as the shortest ever tent meeting. That is not to say that it was not effective. In the two days we held the meeting we saw an awakening within the people here. On the first night alone we saw prayers answered when, at the end of the meeting, as we were taking down chairs and equipment, a burden for prayer was placed on everyone to the point of stopping everything to pray for the lost in our region. When we knew that we were moving here we started asking God to place in the hearts of the people here a spirit of prayer. In the last few weeks we have seen this burden of prayer grow. Praise God. Last night as we were tearing down, people were talking about practical ways to minister in the area. Right now, in Lafayette County there is not one homeless shelter. Planned Parenthood has a presence in Platteville, but no one is too sure if there is a Crisis Pregnancy Center there. In the case of Platteville, and Darlington for that matter, we are going to look into it a little more, and if there is no center we are going to move forward in starting one.

One person shared a story where a young girl in a crisis situation had to be turned down by a local ministry because they did not have the room. Friends, this should never happen. We need to take action, and are planning to do so. I will share more as we go along.

Good things are happening to us. We are seeing prayer answered, we are getting to know more people in the community, and we get to see God's provision daily.

I start my new job at Lands' End on the 29th. This is a seasonal job lasting through the Christmas season. During this time we are raising support to free up more time to work in ministry. Currently the church is just paying the bills and cannot pay for two pastors, even though two pastors are needed. The new job will offer some flexibility so I am available to travel and share what God is doing in our part of Rural America. Of course, financial donations are always welcome and tax deductible.

As always, we covet your prayers for us. There is a noticible difference when people pray, and we are seeing the first fruits now. Thank you so much.

Blessings,Chuck

What to File This Under

I sit here looking at the blank screen, knowing what I am goin to write, but not knowing what to file it under. Oh well, no one reads titles to these posts anyway.I had my interview at Lands' End yesterday. I got the job and start training on the 29th. I will be working in customer service placing phone orders. Sure beats crawling under houses in 30 below weather. The job is seasonal, which means it may be temporary. There is the chance that I can stay on if I do a good job and they need the help after the Christmas season. -Always a variable-Maybe I should've used that as a title. Oh Well.

The weather here is unseasonably warm. I thought Wisconsin was cold. Go figure. Mind you, I'm not complaining, I like the warm temps; I just expected colder.

We are preparing for the Fall Camp Meeting at Willow Springs Bible Church. We are setting up the tent Friday. We are expecting that many will come to Christ during the meeting. I will post testimony some time next week.I promise to post more substance than what I have in recent past. This last few weeks has allowed me time to study and pray. Now I just have to put it in writing.

Remember to keep us in prayer. We still have specific needs, but are confident that God will provide at the right moment.Blessings,Chuck

Quick Update

As I was walking to the library I realized that I have not posted anything on this blog for a couple of weeks. I figured that I should post something and decided on a quick update.

We have finally gotten to the point of feeling normal again. We have but a few boxes to unpack, and the kids started an almost full load of school this week. Chastity found a homeschool group close by and hopes to plug in soon.

I have had a few interviews here, but no takers as of yet. I have an interview tomorrow with Lands' End. Something will come about soon enough. Until then I am taking advantage of this time to study and do some writing.

We are preparing for our first Fall Camp Meeting at Willow Springs Bible Church this weekend. We will be pitching the tent at the end of the week. Our family is excited about this; we have never been to a tent meeting before and can't wait to see God move.

With all of this free time we have had some time to check out the town of Darlington. I shared on my blog how we have been meeting people just by walking around town. This is a small town so I am sure we look out of place for now. We are really pleased with the friendliness of the people here. We have been in some less that inviting places in the past and it is always refreshing when someone says hi back.

I guess that was pretty quick. We would love to hear from everyone. Our contact info is on the right. Don't be a stranger, and if you are in the area look us up, we love having people over, the door is always open. For real..

Blessings,
Chuck

We Have Finally Moved

As the title says, we have finally moved to Wisconsin. We arrived last Thursday morning after driving all night(an idea that has equal advantages and disadvantages). We had our first official service last weekend as well. We are so glad to be a part of a wonderful and growing (speaking prophetically here) body of believers. On labor day we spent the afternoon eating and getting to know a few of the people from the church. There has been a wonderful welcome to the area from all. We are blessed to be able to serve here.

Today I spent the first half of the day looking for employment. Unfortunately I will have to work outside the church as well until the churches grow more. Of course, we are always looking for people to support this as we minister in this area. And, as life has it, we have some needs as we embark on this new mission. If you feel led to help you can contact me directly at the address to the right. At this moment we are in need of a larger vehicle. We are currently using two vehicles to get the whole family anywhere. This can add up pretty quick when the average car ride is twenty miles or more. We are also in need of school books for our children and a new computer (our old one gave up the ghost before we left). Our most important need is your prayers. We know from experience that we are not as effective without them. We pray blessings to you and thank you in advance for all you do.Chuck

Update

Due to computer problems I will be posting updates here.

Chuck

Buy This House

This is our house. I guess I think ketchup too). We are getting more excited to get to Wisconsin and start what God has for us. The details are starting to come together. We can't wait.

We are in the process of cull and pack. This usually involves the words, " I was wondering where that was!" even though you know you completely forgot about it. In the Scott household, when we hear those words we throw it out, unless it involves gold, precious stones or jewelry, in which case we revel at the wonder of how such stuff got into our house to begin with as we run to the pawn shop, singing, "We're gonna be rich, we're gonna be rich." only to find out our find was fools gold, just a rock and cheap costume jewelry.

Oh well.

So say a prayer for us as the nuttiness of packing goes on.

4th of July

Last night Elijah and I went to Wally World to get pyrotechnics for today, the 4th of July. Right now it is a work in progress, so check back often for updates.

As you may know I (Chuck ) accepted the offer to be associate pastor for two churches in southwestern Wisconsin. These churches are small and as a result I will have to raise support and work a part time job if needed. We (Pastor James and I) are believing that the churches will fill in a short amount of time. As with all regions, there is a need for God. This is most evident within our generation (genx) which has more people out of church than any other generation in history.

I will surely talk more about this as time goes on. For now I would ask that you keep us in prayer for as you know when you step out in ministry the enemy attacks. We would also ask that you consider supporting us financially as well. You can do that one of two ways. By sending it directly to :

The Scott's
410 E 7th St
Mt Carmel, Illinois 62863

Or you can click the donation button to the right and follow the directions from there.

We are set to move at the end of August and are really excited to get there.
