We are moving..

Real short post here.Yes, we are moving. We are moving back to Kansas City. The job prospects in rural Wisconsin are nil, so we must move. I have a couple of leads in Kansas City and hope to start as soon as we get there. It looks as if we will be there by the 26th.

We are sad to be leaving the people in Wisconsin, but at the same time we are excited about the move. Our short time here has been a blessing to us. We have met some wonderful people here and we are blessed to know them. Know that everyone is in our prayers.

So, until we get settled...

Blessings,

Chuck

Update February 2009

Scott Family Update February 2009

Friends and Family,

We have so much to share this month that it’s hard to know where to start. Last month we told you about the coming church plant. As it looks now, we will be holding two services this month, one on the 13th and the other on the 20th. What started out as 15 interested families has turned into nearly 30 families showing interest in the Vintage Faith Centers, America. This is both exciting and a bit overwhelming when we consider that we have two other churches that we serve as well. We will surely be busy for a season.

Prayer Request

Last month we shared that the house we are living in sold. This is a blessing for our landlord and a bit of relief for sure, as he had it on the market for over a year. We need to be out of the house on the 15th of February. Please pray that we find just the right house for our family.

Along with that we ask that everyone pray for our finances, and if God may be leading you to support this ministry. Because the churches are small, and one is just starting, we do not take a salary; instead we raise our own support. In the past we have done this through part time employment coupled with monthly donations, and onetime financial gifts. However, due to the rural location, and the current economy we have not been able to find part time work.

As we come to the 15th we are way below our financial needs to move. We are asking that you would pray about supporting this ministry. This can be done in a variety of ways.

Monthly support of $10, $20, $50, $100 is one way as well as a one time gift. We also ask that you would pray about financially supporting our adoption efforts. Feel free to contact us if you would like more information.

All donations are tax deductible. Instructions on how to receive year end tax deductions are at the end of this letter.

Please prayerfully consider support this church planting, rural ministry. We want to thank you in advance for your support.

We Are Filling in Our 2009 Calendar

With our duties at the churches expanding we are able to go out only a couple of times a month, about 6 days each month. We really want to share our vision for church planting, and what God has been sharing with us. If you or your church would like to host us you can contact us at: chuckscot@gmail.com. We would love to come and serve you.

God is Good.....

Real quick update on happenings here. We have a huge prayer request.

In our last letter I told everyone that we have to move. We are still looking for a place big enough for all of us and still be affordable. We have to be out by the 15th of February, which puts us really close to moving. We are starting to pack, not knowing where we will go, but we know that God is faithful and will provide the right place for our family.

Please pray for us. Pray that we will have enough money to get into a place and to take care of all the other expenses. Pray that the weather will be good enough to move when we need. We have had a lot of snow here which makes for slick walkways and stairs. Most of all pray for peace and safety as we transition into a new home.

God is good.....

Update January 2009

Scott Family Update
January 2009

We want to start out by wishing everyone a Happy New Year. It is our prayer that God wildly bless every one of you this year.

As there is with the beginning of each year, there is an excitement for what God is going to do. We are excited at the challenges and work God has for us this year.

Last year God made some radical changes in our lives when He called us to Wisconsin. We are blessed to be able to pastor at two churches here. We really love serving the people here. They have been such a blessing to us. We are also blessed to serve Pastor James (Senior Pastor) and his vision for the area. We are excited to be a part of this vision that involves church planting, establishing a ministry training center as well as a bible school (Crucible). These first few days of 2009 are an encouragement to what God has in store for this region this year.

The blessing that this ministry has seen in the last four months is extraordinary. Since September we have been blessed with video equipment, paid airtime on the local Christian television station as well as an increased interest in the future ministry training center and bible school. The first church plant will start soon, and others will follow. And it is our goal to have the ministry training center, as well as Crucible up and running as soon as possible.

In other news….

As some may know, at the end of last year we placed our children in public school. We are pleased to say that they are doing well and they are enjoying the experience.

Elijah is playing basketball and thoroughly loving it. Myah was part of the recent Christmas play and thinks she may continue with theatre this year too. Noah has shown an aptitude for music in way of guitar. We were recently blessed with an electric guitar that sparked this interest. Josiah is on the wrestling team and has his first match in a few days. On top of it all we are seeing God working in their lives and are amazed at the people of God they are becoming. Above all else it is our prayer that they run after God with focused abandonment their entire lives.

We Are Moving…..Just Not As Far

We are also preparing to move once again, though not as far, into another place. We have until the middle of February to find another place. We believe that God will provide the finances to move and the right place to live at just the right time.

This year also proves exciting for me (Chuck) personally as well. In my prayer time I have felt the leading of the Lord to write more. This has been a desire of mine since childhood and I have always written in way of journals and, since 2001, blogging. However, this prompting has been more pointed in that I sense God wants me to publish more on my blog and to write a book. (this explains all the title ideas I have been having lately) I believe that God gives us the desires of our heart if we focus on Him.
Delight yourself in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Psalm 37:4 (NKJV)

In the next few months I will be posting more on my blog (www.chuckscott.blogspot.com) as well as my Facebook and Myspace sites. I will also be spending more time on a couple of ideas for books. All of this will be what God is sharing with me and what I write will reflect that. So check the blog often. If you aren’t already a friend on myspace or facebook just send a request and I will set you up.

Another prompting has been to travel more this year to speak at other churches. I feel that God is wanting us to go out and share His heart for the rural areas in America. With our pastoral duties we will only be available a couple times a month. So far the schedule is wide open, so if your church or organization would be interested in hosting us, let us know. All the contact info is at the end of this letter.

Thank You!
We want to thank everyone who has supported us in prayer and finances. We so appreciate it all, and could not continue this work without your faithful support.

We are asking that if you have not considered it before that you would seek God in supporting us financially this year.

This ministry, the school and training center are all non-profit in that we will not charge for anything. Everyone involved, students and staff raise their own support. This means that we live by faith, believing that the lights and heat stay on, and that we have more than enough for the daily ministry expenses.

If you would like to support the ministry as a whole or individuals let us know.

We pray that God bless you this coming year.

In Christ,

The Scott Family

What We Did on Our Christmas Vacation.....So Far

Our first Christmas in Wisconsin went well. We spent it home with the family. We were blessed the night before when a few people from the church came by to drop off presents. We were blessed with cheese and meat, a Wisconsin staple. We have pounds of deer burger and a few roasts to boot.

On Christmas day I took the boys sleding. On my one and only run I ran into Josiahs toboggon with the bridge of my nose. It is slightly broken, and I set it myself, much to the objections of Chastity.

Blessings

Update December 08

Scott Family Update
December 2008

It’s hard to believe that the year is almost over. So much has happened this year, with most of it packed into the last four months.

We are preparing for our first Christmas in Wisconsin, and are looking at the real reason for the Christmas celebration. This time of year seems to bring out the whole spectrum of emotions in people. On one end we see the world’s view of despair and greed, and on an eternal view we feel the great joy in knowing that God really loves us. Even as Christians we can be easily sucked into the world game of shop til you drop and trying to keep up with the fastness of the season. It seems that Christmas season starts earlier each year, and the crowds become more agitated as a result.

This year has probably been the hardest years for our family. In that we have had ample opportunity to feel sorry for ourselves and join the rest of the masses in a collective bah humbug. However, it seems that every time that spirit of whiny-ness comes around, we are reminded of just how much God loves us. For real! Any hardships, any trials, any kind of seemingly insurmountable mountain is nothing compared to the great love our Father has for us, so much so that He made a way for us to spend eternity with Him. All these momentary light afflictions are mere nothingness in the eternal scheme of God. And this season reminds us of that great love.

With that we encourage everyone to take time this season to reflect on Him and his faithfulness. Sure, candy canes and Christmas hams (irony is not lost here) are good things, but let us not sacrifice the excellent of Christ for the good of Christmas.

Thank You!

We want to take this time to thank everyone who has supported us in prayer and finances. Without God and your support we cannot do what we do. Thank you so much! May God richly bless you this coming year, and may you have a blessed Christmas season. Merry Christmas!

In Christ,

Chuck, Chastity, Elijah, Myah, Noah, and Josiah

PS. Keep us in prayer this coming year as we move forward with foster care adoption.

Scott Family Update

Scott Family Update

It is hard to find a place to start. We have been busy every week working at the churches, doing outreach and life in general that we haven't had time to just rest.

Quick church updates:
We changed to a Saturday evening service at the Platteville church (Vintage Faith Center). We are beginning to see more college students coming as a result. There has been a big push sprucing VFC up. It is amazing what paint and pictures can do to transform a room.

Willow Springs Bible Church is moving along steadily. We continue to have MMA (Mixed Martial Arts), bible study, and are in the planning stages for outreach in the Darlington area. We are seeing an increased interest in prayer here. This has been our prayer for both churches and it is great to see God place the spirit of prayer on both churches so soon.

The real exciting news for all of us here is the planting of a new Vintage Faith Centers chapter church in New Glarus Wisconsin. The first service should be in the next couple of weeks. I will post more as time goes on. Please pray for us as we step out in faith, planting churches in small towns.

We are also looking into an old church building in Darlington. The basement has been converted into a 3 bedroom apartment, and the upstairs is on huge room that can be converted into office/ classroom space. The initial plan is to have a place for ministers/church planters to stay while they train for their calling. There are some other ideas bouncing around for the upstairs as well. What is for sure is that we would like to use the building for a ministry center hub to train, equip and send out ministers. If you would like to help support this let me know.

Sometimes it seems as if we are moving slow but when we realize that it has been less than six months since starting on this journey, we have really made great strides.

Family News:

As some of you may know, Chastity and I have had a heart for adoption for some time now. While back in Illinois we had started the process, but had to stop when we were called to Wisconsin. Up until a couple of days ago we were saying that we needed to be settled before continuing. We realized that we are as settled as we are ever going to be, and we are setting out once again to make a difference in a young child's life. As we have prayed about this we have felt God leading us to go through the Foster Care system. We will keep you posted as things progress.

We ask that people keep us in prayer as we step out in faith. In the natural we need so much for this to work. We still need a vehicle big enough for us six, and for our new child (or children). We are also in need of more financial support. I am working a full time job with a temp agency, but am finding hard to maintain a full time job and pastoral duties. The churches are not at a place financially to support us, but the need is there for ministry. We believe God will make a way for me to work a part time job and devote more time to both churches. We know that in the natural this looks impossible, but in the spirit we know that these things are already provided for.

Change in the Political Climate:

The elections have come and gone, and I really believe that God gave the people the king they wanted. We noticed this week that the moral climate has changed rather quickly since the election. It's as if the people of this nation are like little kids taking a peek at their Christmas presents early, even taking them out and playing with them. We as Christians need to be diligent in focused prayer. Friends, we are heading to battle, and we need to pray as we have never prayed before. Furthermore, we need to take action as well. We need to be the voice for the unborn, the poor and disenfranchised. If we do not we will see our place in this nation lost to secular, ungodly ideals. If we sit and do nothing we will be slowly pushed out.

We must:
1. Pray for our leaders
2. Look for ways to impact our local communities. We need to treat our regions like the mission fields they are.
3. Speak against any law that goes against God's.
4. Speak the truth in love.
5. Get involved in local government.

Please pray for us as we continue in this mission. We are thankful to all of you who have supported us in prayer and financially. We pray that God would bless you all.

If there is anything you need prayer for, let us know we would love to stand with you in the place of prayer.

If you would like to support us as rural missionaries you can do so by going to www.chuckscott.blogspot.com and clicking the donation button, or, if you would like a tax deduction you can make checks payable to: Willow Springs Bible Church, with a post it note attached designating it to the Scott Family and send it to the address below. We thank you in advance for your generous support.
